Ingredients

For the Cream Cheese Layer:
  • 12 ounces of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup of white granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces of whipped topping Cool Whip
For the Crust:
  • 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
For the Fruit & Toppings:
  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 20 ounces of canned crushed pineapple, thoroughly drained
  • 16 ounces of fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 8 ounces of whipped topping Cool Whip
  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
  • Drizzle of chocolate syrup
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Crust
  1. Begin by mixing the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter until they resemble wet sand. Spread this mixture evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish, pressing it firmly down. This will create a sturdy base. Once done, set your crust aside to firm up a bit.
Step 2: Make the Cream Cheese Layer
  1. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and granulated sugar. Using a hand mixer, beat until you achieve a smooth and fluffy consistency.
Then fold in 8 ounces of whipped topping until evenly combined. The result is a silky layer that sets the stage for the fruits to shine.
Step 3: Layer the Ingredients
  1. Spread the cream cheese mixture over your graham cracker crust. Now for the fun part!
Layer the sliced bananas over the cream cheese, followed by an even distribution of the drained crushed pineapple. Next, sprinkle the hulled strawberries. You can let your creativity flow here!
Step 4: Top with Whipped Topping
  1. Spread the remaining 8 ounces of whipped topping over the entire dish. Make sure every corner is covered.
Scatter chopped walnuts generously across the top. Finish with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and, of course, don’t forget those maraschino cherries!
Step 5: Chill
  1. Cover your dish with plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. This waiting game allows the flavors to meld beautifully, enhancing the sweetness and richness.

Notes

  • Ripeness of Bananas: Use slightly underripe bananas for better structure and flavor.
  • Draining Pineapple: Be sure to thoroughly drain canned pineapple. Excess moisture can make the cake soggy.
  • Chill Time: For best results, let it chill overnight.
  • Walnuts: If you have nut allergies, feel free to leave them out or substitute with seeds.
  • Maraschino Cherries: Adding them right before serving maintains their vibrant color.
