Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup toffee bits
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dry brownie mix or 1 cup powdered sugar blended with 1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups classic pretzel twists
  • 6 cups crispy Rice Chex cereal squares
  • 2 cups mini peanut butter cup candies
  • 1 bag festive holiday M&M’s 12-ounce

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Mixture
  1. Start by melting the chocolate chips and peanut butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously to ensure the mixture combines smoothly.
Step 2: Mix in Vanilla
  1. Once melted, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract. This step elevates the taste, making your mix delightful.
Step 3: Combine Chex and Pretzels
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Chex cereal and pretzel twists. Pour the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over this combo, tossing gently to coat everything evenly.
Step 4: Add Sweet Coating
  1. Now, sprinkle the brownie mix or the powdered sugar-cocoa blend over the coated cereal. Gently toss everything until the dry mix adheres to the cereal and pretzels.
Step 5: Toss in Extras
  1. Dump in the toffee bits, mini peanut butter cup candies, and M&M's. Give the mixture one last toss to distribute everything evenly.
Step 6: Allow to Cool
  1. Spread the Reindeer Chow onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it cool completely. This allows the chocolate to set, rendering it easy to enjoy without any mess.

Notes

  • Use Quality Chocolate: Opt for good quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Mix Brands: Different types of Chex can add a unique texture. Experiment if you like!
  • Store-Away Time: To avoid sticking, wait until the chow is completely cooled before transferring it to a container.
  • Add More Crunch: Consider including nuts or seeds for added crunch and nutrition.
  • Serve Responsibly: This treat is sweet, so small portions go a long way!
